Thank you for your interest in worshipping and growing at Shippensburg First Church of God!
There is something for all ages. There is no dress code, so come as you are. Some of us wear formal attire, some casual, and some relaxed. Be yourself—the authentic person God created you to be.
Our worship services contain a Bible-based message that is understandable yet challenging, with the aim of motivating hearers to connect the words of truth and comfort found in scripture to their present circumstances. A free-will offering is collected each week to allow worshippers to worship by giving from their finances as God leads or enables. About 4 times each year we have communion at the Lord’s Table.
Every Sunday we spend plenty of time praising God with music as well, and we offer two service styles—pick your preference, or enjoy some variety each week!
During the 8:30 a.m. Sunday worship service you will experience some favorite hymns accompanied by pipe organ and piano, and a choir that will inspire you to sing along. The order of worship includes a more formalized liturgy to connect ourselves to sacred history, including prelude and postlude music and weekly singing of the Doxology to center our minds and hearts on God from whom all blessings flow.
The 11:00 a.m. service features contemporary worship songs with a variety of instruments including guitar, keyboard, and drums. These are the songs you’ll hear on contemporary Christian music playlists. The order of worship is more streamlined, allowing plenty of time to praise and reflect during the music. Raise your hands and sing along!
Children can participate in Kids Worship with our Children’s Ministry during our 11:00 am service, or you can worship together as a family (activity packs for children are available during the service if they remain in the sanctuary with their parents). On months that have a fifth Sunday, there is no Kids Worship so children can join with their families in the sanctuary.
Our nursery is available for all services.
